Ryan Artale has spent 20 years in research and product development. During his time at Covidien, Ryan was a lead product engineer and leader of design teams for surgical devices that have led to sales of more than $500M/year. During that time and in this 10 years as as freelancer, Ryan is viewed as the go-to person for product ideation, definition, design, prototyping, and developing new or existing manufacturing methods to make the products in high volume. Ryan knows that good simple upfront design is the most important aspect of a successful product and has been able to deliver designs that meet core customer needs, cost targets, time to market deadlines, regulatory requirements and manufacturing requirements.
More specifically Ryan has designed parts for injection molding, insert molding, two shot molding, stamping, etching, high volume and low volume machining, ultrasonic welding, laser welding, laser machining, grinding, fine blanking, silicone molding, silicone insert molding, CIM, MIM, powder metallurgy, high and low volume EDM and flex circuits. During his 10 years of product development after leaving Covidien, Ryan has partipated and led multiple product development teams that have successfully launched products to market in a wide range of industries, from medical deivces to a submersible research vessel, Electromechancial consumer products and Cannibus industry products.
At Covidien, Ryan was fortunate to have the unique experience of following parts and products from concept through to commercialization. This included setting up onsite semi-automated manufacturing lines for production of quantities up to 300,000 units/year.
Prior to his product development experience Ryan contributed to achievements in research for the University of Colorado (CU). This research gave him invaluable experience with in-vivo and in-vitro testing of surgical devices and development of electromechanical research tools using LabVIEW.
Ryan has shown great drive and dedication to a goal by working his way up in the ranks to be a professional mountain bike racer while balancing work and school schedule. In addition, he was a member of the University of Colorado mountain bike national champion team in 2002.
